Level Ledger — Privacy Policy
Level Ledger by Bar_Melis
Last updated: 8 July 2026
Level Ledger is an operating system for bars and venues. This policy covers both the website (levelledger.bar) and the Level Ledger app. It explains what data we collect, why, and your rights.
The website & waitlist
When you join the early-access waitlist or run the Waste Audit, you may give us your email address (and, for the audit, the anonymous figures you enter). We use it for one purpose: to contact you about Level Ledger's launch and early access. The legal basis is your consent, given when you submit the form.
- Form submissions are processed by Formspree, which forwards them to us by email.
- The site uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers.
- We never sell or share your email. You can ask us to remove it at any time (see Contact).
The app — who controls your data
Your venue's operational data (inventory, recipes, sales, staff records, stock movements) is stored on your venue's own Level Ledger instance. The venue operator is the controller of that data; Bar_Melis provides the software as a processor. Authentication uses a name and PIN verified by your venue's instance.
Device capabilities the app uses
- Camera — to scan barcodes and take documentation photos. Images go only to your venue instance.
- NFC — to read the identifier of a tag placed on a bottle or container.
- Bluetooth — to read live weight from a connected scale (e.g. Acaia).
- Local Network — to communicate with your venue's Level Ledger instance.
- Notifications — to deliver operational alerts (see below).
These are used only for the functions above and only while you use the app. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party trackers.
Push notifications
If you enable notifications, your device registers a token with the platform push service (e.g. Apple APNs) so your venue instance can send operational alerts. The token is used for delivery only, not to track you.
Data retention & your rights
Website: we keep your waitlist email until launch or until you ask us to delete it. Operational data lives on the venue's instance, so its retention and deletion are controlled by the venue operator. Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent — email us to exercise these rights, or contact your venue administrator for operational data.
Children
Level Ledger is a professional tool for venue staff and is not directed at children.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above will change accordingly.
